In the last working week of 2024, I was flown interstate twice for separate speaking events.
The plan was to take the early 6.30am flight from Melbourne to Sydney, then check in to my accommodation to rest before my 2pm speaking timeslot at a school
With that in mind, I board the plane unshowered, sans makeup, hair undone, and in casual clothes
But upon landing in Sydney, it turns out a speaker had called in sick for the morning timeslot at a separate event
So, with 60 minutes notice, I was called upon to step in and attend the morning event at a different school
There goes my non-negotiable time to prepare for my main event at 2pm
We were driven straight from the airport to the first school for a 9am start, so we got changed in the toilet of a service station on the way there, and I did my makeup halfway through a session in the bathroom of the school
After finishing at the first school we go straight to the second school for my main talk of the day
It’s 43 degrees and I’m exhausted. I feel pretty dirty, and not myself tbh.
Regardless, I show up with my well-known high energy to deliver the talk of the day
It was a big and long day. But that’s the point.
A day like this is to be expected in the life of a speaker.
So to be worthy of our dreams, we HAVE to be willing to take the hardest path to get there.
And if we’re unwilling, then we aren’t worthy of our dreams.
Because when it comes to our dreams, the hardest path IS the least that is guaranteed.
Do you agree? Let me know!
