I’m currently reading a book by Daniel Priestley called Entrepreneur Revolution, and there’s a segment that has really resonated with me that I’d like to share with you: The role of luck in our success.
This is something that I’ve gone full circle on. When I was young, I forfeited a lot of my power to ‘luck’, this invisible force that was out of my control. Then, as I evolved my thinking, I swung to the other extreme and decided that were was NO such thing as luck at all: We are responsible for 100% of what happens in our lives.
Now, I’ve landed on a sweet spot. I believe that although there is a basis of situational luck in our lives, most of our reality is created by no one other than us.
Firstly, yes, you are extremely lucky.
If you are reading this on your computer or phone inside a warm/cool house and you have had fresh food and running water today, you have already won the human lottery. You must acknowledge this because without seeing how lucky you are, you will never see any future lucky opportunities that come your way.
As the saying by Charles Swindoll goes – Life is 10% what’s happening to us, and 90% how we react to it
So what’s the 90% of luck that you can create?
By hanging out with lucky people. Spending time in lucky locations. Doing lucky activities. Taking lucky action
- Spending time with inspirational visionaries. Network with people in your industries, instead of hanging out with close-minded friends from your past.
- Spend time volunteering at events in your industry. Work at a cafe or co-working space, rather than at home.
- Spend your money on your development, rather than on material things.
You have the power to create luck in your life.
So, what are you going to do this week to make yourself luckier?
