How to get more speaking gigs!

For a long time, I’d known that I wanted to be a speaker to spread my message and create a greater impact than I could do otherwise.

I’d sit at home, longing for more opportunities and wondering how other speakers kept getting gig after gig? Like, HOW!?

Well, as I’ve walked down this road more, the BTS has been revealed to me:

To speak more, there’s no other way than to be proactive AND creative.

We’re not going to have hundreds of speaking opportunities magically dropping into our inbox, not at the start, at least.

I’m still very much on this journey myself. So, let me share with you how I’ve gotten various speaking gigs in the last year, from local events and interstate gigs to my TEDx talk:

  1. Go out there and meet more people. The more people you meet, the more wedges you’ll put in doors to have your name pop up when there is an opening!
  2. Create your own stages instead of waiting for stages to come to you. That’s what I did in 2017 when I ran a workshop on back pain while I was still a Physiotherapist
  3. Cold emailing or calling organisations and companies to pitch yourself. It seems pushy, but you’ve to put yourself in front of these people to be noticed!
  4. And for TEDx, they’re almost always application-based. Make sure you are subscribed to your local TEDx events, so you are the first to know when speaker callouts are happening!

Which one will you start to focus on first? Hit reply and let me know!
