Last week, I had someone get surprised when I told them that I was plant-based 🌱

And I thought, maybe it’s time I give everyone a chance to understand more about me beyond the daily speaking tips that I put out.

Because I’m telling you, there’s A LOT more lol!

So, here are 7 reasons to follow or unfollow me (As a Vietnamese-Australian Speaking Coach)

1. I am a voice for racial and gender representation

My TEDx talk was titled “Is the Personal Development Industry Racist?”. If you think that it’s not ‘actually’ harder for women, or people of colour to achieve leadership because “But X and Y are Asians and top of their industry and they’re doing just fine”, then you’re part of the problem. Privilege is always invisible to those who have it – It’s your responsibility to learn.

2. Speaking coaching is not unique, but how I do it is

I coach speaking as both an art and a science: I’ll use evidence-based practice for technical coaching, but also, I am here to amplify your unique voice without making you sound like someone you’re not.

3. I am one of the very few female Asian Speaking Coaches out there

This is an intersection of qualification & experience that allows me to help other people of colour, especially women speak up with authority in mixed cultural scenarios in a way that almost no other speaking coach can offer

4. I have been plant-based for 7 years 🌱

It all started when I stepped on a snail in 2019 and felt guitly, then realised that I was making the active choice to hurt animals every day by what I put on my plate or which products I purchased.

Then I learned that more animals get killed every year than the number of humans that have EVER been alive, so I thought, maybe we can all be a little kinder, even if it’s just choosing one plant-based meal a week compared to zero.

5. I’m not conventional

I’m a trailblazer in my own world: I’m a woman of colour breaking norms in all areas of career, financial, marriage, and lifestyle expectations to pivot away from my university qualified job, now running my passion-based business while living on the road.

If you want permission to break out of the mould, then yes hello!

6. I believe in wealth distribution

The top 1% control 37% of the world’s wealth, and the bottom 50% control only 2% of the world’s wealth. How could we NOT give back to those who clearly need that money more than we do?

Go and give to charity, pay your taxes, or volunteer your time and energy.

7. I am high energy

My superpower is how I make people feel GOOD.

This means I’m quite loud and extraverted (When I’m out, not once I’m home on the weekend though lol) and maybe that triggers people and can become annoying for them
