Do you hate the way your voice sounds on video?
Well, I’ve got the scientific reason for why it happens.
When we speak, we hear our voice through two avenues:
We are hearing our voice through our own skull as well as the air, which is what we get used to.
In contrast, when we listen to our voice in a video, we hear what other people usually hear, which is the sound of our voice only through sound vibrations through air.
This is why our voice sounds more thin and high, compared to the deeper and thicker sound we are so familiar with.
I get that hearing your voice on video is icky, but don’t forget that it only sounds different to YOU.
To everyone else, the way you sound on video is how you sound all the time.
So, how can you become ok with your voice on video?
You simply need to do it more.
Hit record, film that video, and put it up on social media.
Eventually you will get more used to the way that your voice sounds on video. I promise.
Do you want to build more confidence with your speaking, whether it’s for social media, in meetings or on a stage?
I’ve created a weekly intimate space for you to practice your speaking and get personalised feedback. If you want to transform your voice for confidence anytime and anywhere, this is your opportunity to get 1:1 access to me each week for questions, to practice your talk or role-play an interview.
See you on the inside 🙂
